ABOUT
It took a long time for me to call myself an artist. With no formal training, I learned my jewellery techniques like any determined woman would – asking questions of anyone that would listen, reading the few books available at the time, and plenty of trial and error. I would take sheets and wires of sterling silver, cut them, shape them, heat them, add colourful gemstones or pieces of art glass to them, and almost magically, they would become beautiful jewellery creations.
Then one day I realized that the jewellery I create has always been a direct expression of my passion and my world. My designs always reflect where I am in my life. The colors I use are inspired by the myriad of creatures (human, canine, feline, avian, reptilian and piscine) that inhabit my home. The organic shapes and textures often repeated in my work are direct reflections of the miniature temperate rain forest that is my back yard in Aldergrove, British Columbia.
My children will tell you that I am obsessed with jewellery, my husband will just roll his eyes. My friends all know how passionate I am about the pieces I create, the gemstones I collect, the tools I treasure……. I guess I am an artist! And very proud of it!
